(1) As of late October 2016, it became legal to purchase Cuban cigars from outside the US and have them brought into, or mailed into, the US. It remains, however, illegal to sell Cuban cigars within the US. (2) Just how good are Cuban cigars? Prior to the year 2000, every cigar that CIGAR AFICIONADO magazine rated 95 or higher was Cuban! So are Cuban cigars still that good? Since the year 2000, six different Cuban cigars have been rated 95, 96 or 97 (none rated higher than 97). But since the year 2000, 24 different non-Cuban cigars have been rated 95, 96 or 97 (none rated higher than 97). The average list price of non-Cuban cigars rated 95 or higher is about $15 to $17 per stick, with many costing under $12. (3) Very few Cuban cigars are both very high-rated and cost $12 or under. So we believe that access to Cuban cigars is no big deal, at this moment in time. So ask yourself is it really also worth the risk that you be getting counterfeits or that your sending your credit card information to a foreign country? Having said this, if Cuban cigars become legal for sale in the USA we probably will attempt to offer three or four specific ones (based on rating and price point.) We hope this helps you make a more informed decision. Happy puffing!
